It’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind, to explore her options. And there is no better dating site online for this than Lavalife, where member flexibility is the focus.
It doesn’t disguise itself as the place to meet your partner for life, just a place to meet those who may be looking for the same thing in a comfortable and relaxed setting. A large membership with an intelligently segmented site (broken down into dating, relationships or intimate encounters) Lavalife is a perfect place to look when you’re not quite sure exactly what you’re seeking.
Lavalife membership costs
It is free to sign up on Lavalife, which unlike most dating sites actually allows you to correspond with paid members as a free member, though they must be the one to initiate contact; a great means of seeing whether your profile does the trick.
A one month Lavalife membership costs $39.99, and 3 months costs $56.97 or $18.99 a month. If you’ve been to Lavalife previously, it should be noted that the credit/points system the site formerly had has been replaced by this standard membership structure.

What do I get from Lavalife?
The site has three segments: Dating, relationships or intimate encounters. There’s no specific “marriage” focus, which is a bit surprising, but it all comes under the “relationship” header.
You can set up a different profile, using a different screen name, under each of these headings. From a user perspective, the options are nice, but the site would probably be better served if it at least made you keep the same screen name under the different sections, so someone can check against someone posing as looking for commitment, but also having posted under intimate encounters.
Profiles run the gamut, from quick hits to extreme detail, particularly with the essay or free-form answers. As you would figure, the “relationship” segment features the most detailed profiles.
The Lavalife Magazine is well done, featuring loads of tips and information on online dating, as well as other tidbits such as style, trends and music.

Who’s on Lavalife?
With more than 5 million registered members worldwide, the site is most popular with American and Canadian singles. More than 1.3 million messages are sent a month, a figure boosted by the site’s policy of allowing free members to reply to any message sent to them.
Lavalife members are generally from 20-40 years old, with males outnumbering females by a roughly 55% to 45% ratio. However, this figure may be skewed a bit by the overwhelming majority of “intimate encounters” profiles being those of men. The site, however, does not break down membership by segment, so it’s impossible to tell how much this alters the figures.

Summing up Lavalife!
Lavalife’s focus is flexibility. Between letting you sign up for three different segments and contact members across groups, as well as letting free members respond if contacted, the intent is obviously to be as user-friendly as possible.
While likely not the place to find your partner for life, particularly without any real kind of scientific matching mechanism, the site does offer a lot of features and a broad membership. If you’re not sure exactly what you’re looking for and are open to whatever may come your way, Lavalife is as good a place as any to start.
