It seems any “gay” lifestyle site that attempts to cater to men and lesbians leaves the lesbian population somewhat short. Refreshingly, that is not the case here. Loaded with focused chat rooms, message boards and insightful lesbian content, Gay.com succeeds where others have failed…truly welcoming the ENTIRE gay community.
The site is very busy, both in membership and appearance. Give yourself time to get used to it, find your way around, and explore the depths of the content and membership. You’ll be glad you did.

Gay.com membership costs
Free to register, but other costs are as follows:
- 1 week trial costs $9.95
- 1 month for $19.95
- 3 months for $19.95
- annual plan is $89.95
A recent promotion has had the full year plan available for $42.95, though this is for an unspecified limited time.
With the free membership, you can create your profile, upload a photo, perform limited searches and compile a list of your favorite members (those you would like to communicate with once you jump into a paid membership). You cannot, however, communicate with members until you’ve paid.

What do I get from Gay.com?
Once you’ve created your profile and chosen your membership, you’re free to search and browse other member’s profiles. Communication methods are pretty standard, using e-mail, chat rooms, instant messaging. Community chats on the message boards are another excellent feature.
As is common on many gay-oriented sites, there is a lot of adult content. Streaming adult video is also available, though it doesn’t just pop up throughout the site as the pictures often do. The site also links you to other sites and links that lesbians find interesting. For example, looking for a gay business to patronize and support? Check out the directory tab, which features thousands of categorized listings. Or if you are looking to do business online, you can click on the shopping link.
The site’s local scene is very cool, allowing you to see gay-related and recommended events, night life hang outs, etc. for your local city. And the active membership here is great about alerting people to what’s going on and finding that elusive place for a night out.

The site doesn’t provide its current active membership, though there are more than 8 million profiles on the site. Unfortunately, the site doesn’t break that number down for you in terms of men and women on board, but with a site this large, numbers are not the problem.
