Saturday, June 7th, 2008Christian Cafe Review
A warmly toned home page sets up the mood for a welcoming site. Christian Cafe establishes itself right off the bat as a relaxed, casual place for serious singles of the Christian faith to meet and learn about each other, hopefully finding the love to last a lifetime.
Christian Café is sensibly done and serves the Christian community in a friendly atmosphere with the feel of a local coffee house. Christian Café’s service includes revealing, in-depth profiles, photos, Christian chat rooms, and anonymous messaging. A 10-day free trial presents the perfect reason for Christian-focused singles to sign up and give a far more than cursory look.

What do I get from ChristianCafe?
There are technically about four good ways for you to meet Christian singles at Christian Café: Browse, Search Engine, Today’s New Profiles, and Who’s Online. But the best search feature is the percentage match: Say you search based on gender, age, location, hobbies, and you only want to see profiles with photos. Left of the profile list will be a percentage figure. 100% means all your search criteria are contained in this profile. While not a detailed matchmaking system, it’s detailed enough to narrow your search and let you choose from there. Again, the depth of the profiles (essays, in particular), make reading…REALLY reading, the profiles the best means here to decide if someone is a match for you.
A neat little feature? Post a prayer. This isn’t just posting Bible passages, but users write prayers themselves – sometimes for loved ones, other just because they feel a message worth spreading. A nice touch and, if you’re so inclined, not a bad way to draw attention.
Who runs a site doesn’t mean much in most cases, but with the religious focus here, it’s different, and Christian Café is quick to tell you why. BigChurch.com is the biggest of the religious-focused sites, and Christian Café points out emphatically that Christians run Christian Café. Big Church is run by a group that also operates hook-up, bondage and alternate-lifestyle sites. If you’re here because your faith matters to you, don’t you want the site that’s helping you find your life partner to share those same beliefs and carry them out in everyday life?
Who’s on ChristianCafe?
ChristianCafe says it has more than 100,000 single Christian members in a database comprised of virtually every age group and Christian denomination, though the focus is heavily in the U.S. and Canada.
Membership is roughly evenly split between men and women.

Summing up ChristianCafe!
As far as focused sites go, ChristianCafe does virtually everything right. It’s actually a bit surprising the membership isn’t larger, but it’s a worthwhile look for all it does well. Take advantage of the free trial and even if you don’t find your match, it’s very unlikely you’ll feel as though you’ve wasted your time.
Whereas most dating sites are hit and miss with profile details, the religious focus of this site draws members to write about themselves, their beliefs and their goals in full detail and, one would assume, a great degree of honesty. You come away from profiles here feeling like you’ve really learned something about the member, and what’s really more important than that.
