Perfect Match

Perfect Match Review

If the name sounds familiar, the NBC dating program “Science of Love” used PerfectMatch, which has also been used often by TV matchmaking segments on talk shows such as Oprah and Dr. Phil.

With more than 2 million members and a truckload of positive reviews all around the Web, Perfect Match is rooted in scientific theory studied by a doctor in sociology from Yale and has set itself up as a place to find true long-term commitment. From the moment you sign up, the site’s matching mechanism, profiles and roughly 50/50 male-female split, are telltale signs that PerfectMatch is the right place to start your search for the love of your life.

PerfectMatch.com membership costs

It’s free to sign up and answer the questions, but you can’t really do anything without a paid membership of 4 months for $99.90, which is billed as buying 2 months and getting 2 free. There are no other membership options presently, though the site previously had 3-month, 6-month and 1-year memberships.

You also get a copy of the book written by the site’s relationship expert Dr. Pepper Schwartz. Yes…Dr. Pepper. Really! Searching around the site though, you also see links to advice from Dr. Schwartz who truly IS a very knowledgeable person on the subject, holding a PhD in sociology from Yale. Not too shabby.

What do I get from PerfectMatch.com?

The Duet® Compatibility Test is PerfectMatch’s main feature. Your answers here will be weighed with your previous answers and used in a system based on “30 years of academic research,” presumably by Dr. Schwartz, whose pedigree was just covered. It includes 7 questions on 8 topics: Romantic impulsivity, personal energy, outlook, predictability, flexibility, decision making style, emotionality (it’s fun to make up words), and self-nurturing.

When the Duet analysis is completed, you get a synopsis of your personality based on four comparisons (Risk Taker/Risk Averse, High Energy/Relaxed, Optimistic/Cautious, and Seeks Predictability/Seeks Surprise). You also get a paragraph synopsis of how you are and what probably will work best for you. A message then comes up that says your full profile will be ready in a few moments, and you’re prompted to continue. What they mean is “Your full profile will be available once you’ve paid.”

Who’s on PerfectMatch.com?

You won’t get 50 new matches a day, despite the site’s base of more than 2 million members. It’s more refined than that based on the Duet test and methods. And, whereas most dating sites are 2 to 1, at least, men outnumbering women, PerfectMatch is roughly a 50/50 split. Generally, the more even split is a sign of a site with more of a long-term focus.

Summing up PerfectMatch.com

EHarmony’s competitor, PerfectMatch is generally held in very high regard. This is a site with a long-term relationship focus, so while finding casual dates isn’t impossible here, it’s not really what it’s designed for.

Look around the Web and you’ll find loads of people who have used the site…and what you’ll find is that the more serious they sound as to whether they are really looking for a long-term match, the more likely they are to praise PerfectMatch. That tells you all should need to know. Check out the success stories, then register and see what there is to offer.
