Matchmaker.com Review
Matchmaker targets being a picture perfect site focused on commitment. Date.com bought MatchMaker early in 2006, so the sites now largely mirror each other, and this isn’t a bad thing. The same caring, information-driven environment featuring specific profiles (meaning there are a lot of required answers, not letting users blow off 75% of the questions just so they can browse) and a large, active membership base sets Matchmaker up as an outstanding place to look for the love of your life.
Refreshingly, profiles come across honestly, which can be attributed to the seriousness of the site’s members in seeking real relationships, and the site has several neat little touches of personal care to raise the comfort level.

What do I get from Matchmaker?
The search lets you access preset lists such as who’s online now, who recently joined, who’s available to instant message and those you’ve viewed previously and who have viewed you. It’s nice not to have to bookmark people you viewed who may have peaked your interest. And it’s these little touches here and there, attention to detail kind of things, that make MatchMaker.com such a pleasant experience.
You can e-mail other members, including sending audio and video messages. You can access chat rooms that can be as large or as private as you choose. In addition, a computerized auto-match compatibility system will match you with others based on your profile selections in enhanced detail. This isn’t eHarmony’s dimensions of compatibility, but it is a very good head start.

Who’s on Matchmaker?
According to the site’s FAQ, more than 2 million members worldwide, signing up about 50,000 new members a week. But that FAQ is outdated, as the pricing terms there are less than the current costs and the latest figure on the site’s home page shows 20,700 new members this week (which is the same figure given on Date.com, which makes one wonder how many people are on one but not the other.) Even so, it’s a large selection to browse.
The site boasts an even 50/50 split of men and women, always a good sign. Remember, the less that men outnumber the women on these sites (as a general rule, of course), the more serious and commitment-oriented the site is.
